After that, he traveled to France and became one of the prominent experts on the currents of French cinema at the time. He began directing with two documentaries, Rhythm (1967) and Melody Makers (1968). His other credits include Cairo As I See It (2007) and Convergence (1977). He died on January 14, 2016.
