She is a comedian, singer, dancer, and screenwriter who was born in 1959 in the United Kingdom and immigrated later to the United States. She studied at the Italia Conti Academy of Dramatic Art and began her acting career in 1980 through the series, Mackenzie. She appeared in the films, I Love You to Death, Bullets Over Broadway, and Into the Woods. She has won the Primetime Emmy Award 7 times and won the British BAFTA Award once.
