Biography

A Syrian researcher, historian, and translator, born in 1936 in Hama, Syria, to a middle-class family. Due to financial problems, he was forced to drop out of school in order to work. In 1952, he managed to obtain a preparatory certificate, then he worked as a teacher in the Hama...Read more countryside. In 1956, he began his compulsory service in the military, during which time he sought to obtain a high school diploma; however, the conditions were harsh and difficult, but he was able to succeed with distinction, and as soon as the compulsory service ended, he was asked to join the military academy. He was known for his work in editing and publishing some folkloric books, especially history books.
