An American actor, producer, director and writer, born in New Jersey in 1959. Early on in his career, he worked in the theater, then turned to film acting in 1986, as he appeared in many notable movies, including: Seven, The Usual Suspects, L.A. Confidential, and American Beauty. He also directed the movies Albino Alligator (1996) and Beyond the Sea (2004). His other notable work includes the series House of Cards (2013-2017). He won two Oscars; one for Best Actor in a Supporting Role ​in 1996 for his role in The Usual Suspects, and another for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2000 for his role in American Beauty
