Egyptian singer and composer born in 1916 in Sharqia Governorate. He started singing at the age of 8 with his father. He got his degree from the High Institute of Music in 1939. He was one of the very first singers to join the Egyptian Radio upon its opening in 1934, singing the famous Ramadan song "Wahawi Ya Wahawi". He was appointed as a music teacher at the Ministry of Education. He abandoned art at the age of retirement and became a Quran reader and worshiper in the Al-Hussein Mosque. He appeared on TV in a musical about Imam Al-Busiri and in the film Layla the Desert Girl (1937). He passed away in 1984.
