An American novelist and short story writer, born on August 3, 1943 in New York, and raised in Connecticut. He received his BA from Columbia University in 1965. He then earned his Ph.D. in English at Brown University. Among his works in cinema: The Illusionist (2006), and The Sisterhood of Night in its two versions in 2006 and 2014.
