An American actress who was born on January 22, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan. She made her acting debut when she was 18 in the film Louisa (1950). She is a three-time Oscar nominee, including Best Leading Actress for The Hustler (1961). She's known for Carrie (1976), The Faculty (1998), and The Grass Harp (1995).
