He is an American director and producer, who was born on November 27, 1944 in Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Berkeley High School, California in 1962. He is known for Hill Street Blues (1981-1985), Frequency (2000), NYPD Blue (1993-1995), and Primal Fear (1996). He won 9 Primetime Emmys throughout his career.
