He met and became very close with director Sam Raimi in high school; they would go on to work together on Raimi's "Evil Dead" franchise. Campbell is best known for his work in cult films like Raimi's "Evil Dead" series, consisting of three blood-curling blockbusters from the 1980s to the 1990s, as well as "Crimewave" (1985), "Maniac Cop" (1988) and "Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat" (1989). Campbell's voice work includes "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" (2009) and "Cars 2" (2011). On television, Campbell is known for his roles as Autolycus on both "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" (1995-1999) and "Xena: Warrior Princess" (1996-1999) and his role as Sam Axe on USA's "Burn Notice" (2007-2012). For the highly anticipated 2013 remake of "Evil Dead," directed by Uruguayan Fede Alvarez, Campbell and Raimi oversaw as producers.
