Mark Wahlberg is an American actor, film and television producer, and former rapper. He was born in a poor, working-class neighborhood in Boston on June 5, 1971, one of nine children. He first rose to fame as the strapping and often shirtless Marky Mark, frontman of "Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch." He was named No. 1 on VH1's "40 Hottest Hotties of the 90s." He has executive produced hit TV shows like HBO's "Entourage" (which is widely understood to be based on his own Hollywood story), "Boardwalk Empire" and "How to Make It in America." As an actor, Wahlberg gained attention for his impressive performances in "Three Kings" (1999), "The Italian Job" (2003) and "I Heart Huckabees" (2004). His work in "The Departed" (2006) won him Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. He also won a National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actor. His other varied film credits include "Boogie Nights" (1997), "The Perfect Storm" (2000), "Planet of the Apes" (2001), "Four Brothers" (2005), "Invincible" (2006), "Shooter" (2007), "Date Night" (2010), "The Fighter" (2010), for which he earned his second Oscar nomination, and Seth MacFarlane's hilarious "Ted" (2012). Wahlberg married his longtime girlfriend, model Rhea Durham, in 2009; they have four children. In 2001, Wahlberg established the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation in order to raise and distribute funds to youth service and enrichment programs. He also works with The Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children in Los Angeles.
