She is an American actress and producer who was born on January 21, 1956 in Wareham, Massachusetts. She studied drama at Boston University and first appeared in the movie Tootsie (1982). She was nominated for an Oscar twice and won for The Accidental Tourist (1988) for Best Supporting Actress. She is known for The Fly, Thelma & Louise, A League of Their Own, and The Long Kiss Goodnight.
