He tried again as a producer and director in Afsana (1951). He established his own production company, and in 1955 produced a series of successful films such as Dhool Ka Phool (1959). His company switched from films to television in 1985 and presented several successful TV shows, most notably Mahabharat (1988). His son is Ravi Chopra. He died on November 5, 2008.
