An American biographer and art historian, born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She has lectured extensively, curated numerous exhibitions, taught Latin American art at New York University, and is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship. She is the author of numerous articles and publication reviews and has published several books on a number of artists, such as Mary Frank, Matisse, and Isamu Noguchi. Her book "Frida: A Biography of Frida Kahlo" was adapted into a movie in 2002.
