An American playwright and lyricist, born August 1, 1924 in New York City. He's known for his plays, some of which were adapted for the screen such as Hello, Dolly! (1969), and Bye Bye Birdie (1963). He passed away on September 20, 1987 at the age of 63 in his hometown.
