He is a screenwriter who was born in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He graduated from Stanford University and obtained a graduate degree with honors from the University of Southern California in Film and Television. In 2002, he sold his first screenplay to Fox. He's known for writing horror, thriller and sci-fi films, including Source Code (2011), Flatliners (2017), and Species: The Awakening (2007).
