She is an American actress, writer, and director born on June 15, 1963 in Culver City, California. Her father was director Gordon Hunt and her mother was a photographer. She moved with her family when she was 3 years old to New York and studied ballet. She began acting on television during her childhood in the seventies. after which she made her big screen debut in Rollercoaster (1977). She won an Academy Award for Best Leading Actress for As Good as It Gets (1997). She made her directorial debut with Then She Found Me (2007), in which she also starred in. She is known for Twister (1996), Cast Away (2000), and Mad About You (1992-2019).
