He is a Spanish director and writer, born in 1949. As Pedro couldn't afford to study filmmaking, he got a job at a Spanish mobile company after he finished school. From his salary, he bought his first camera and started his hobby. His career began with directing short movies, and he gained wide fame which helped him release his first feature film Pepi, Luci, Bom and Other Girls Like Mom (1980). Most of his works revolve around women, which deal with their psychological aspects and frustrations. His film All About My Mother (1999) won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and he won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Talk to Her (2002) .
