A South African writer and journalist, born in South Africa. He studied law, then traveled to London, England, to complete his studies. He worked for the Daily Dispatch newspaper, where he was later appointed as the editor-in-chief. He's known for the historical biographical film Cry Freedom (1987). He died on August 19, 2001.
