A British actress and producer, born on October 16, 1925 in Regent's Park, London, England, United Kingdom. She studied at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art for a year before moving to New York to study there at the Vegan School of Dramatic Art. She was married twice to American actor Richard Cromwell for a year and then they divorced; three years later, she married producer Peter Shaw, and they remained together until Shaw died in 2003. She was nominated for an Oscar 3 times in her career. Her most notable works are The Manchurian Candidate, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Beauty and the Beast, and Anastasia.
