An American actor and comedian, born September 21, 1950 in Illinois. He attended Regis University in Denver to study medicine. He was later arrested for possession of marijuana. He then joined the The National Lampoon Radio Hour with John Belushi, after which he appeared on TV for the first time on the show Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell in 1975. When this show got canceled a year later, Murray got the opportunity to join Saturday Night Live (1975). In 1977, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, Comedy Series for Saturday Night Live, the first of many awards that he went on to received over the course of his long career. Murray has also won the BAFTA Award and the Golden Globe Award for his role in the 2002 movie Lost in Translation.
