Japanese director, writer, editor and producer, born on 6 June 1962 in Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from Waseda University in 1987. His film Shoplifters (2018) was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the BAFTAs. His other works include Nobody Knows, Still Walking, and Like, Father, Like Son.
