Mexican writer, director and producer, born on March 13, 1958, in Mexico City. His notable films include: Amores perros (2000), 21 Grams (2003), The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005), and Babel (2006), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for the latter.
