Michael Chadbourne Mills is an American film and music video director, graphic designer, and author, born in California in 1966. He studied at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and worked for years as a music video director. Mills is best known for directing Thumbsucker (2005), followed by Beginners (2010) and 20th Century Women (2016) .
