An English actress, born on June 3, 1946 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. She was born to a mother who was an actress and a former rhythm dancer and to a father who was an entrepreneur. She studied at the Drama Center in London. She debuted as an actress in the theater and then successfully transitioned to television. She began her television career in 1972 with a role in the series Thirty-Minute Theatre. In 1991, she married actor Sir Ian Holm, after he was knighted, and they appeared together in the fantasy short series The Borrowers (1993). They were separated in 2001.
