Jim Parsons is an American actor known for playing the super nerdy, wickedly brilliant (but socially retarded) physicist Sheldon Cooper on CBS’s acclaimed “Big Bang Theory” (2007-2013). Critics have often said Parsons' performance is the reason why the show is so successful. He’s been showered with awards for the role, including the Television Critics Association award for the highest individual achievements in comedy, the National Association of Broadcasters Television Chairman’s Award for a significant breakthrough in a specific art disciple, three Emmy Awards for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV series or Comedy. In his 2013, Parsons thanked his longtime boyfriend, saying he was his “favorite person on the planet.”
