An American director and producer, born on October 30, 1961, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the National Board of Review. He was nominated for an Academy Award and eight times for an Emmy Award. He is also a Peabody Award-winning director. He has received numerous awards from the Directors Guild of America, the National Board of Review, and the Independent Spirit Awards. He is known for Brother's Keeper (1992), Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019).
