An American actor of Russian descent, born on December 9, 1916. He served in the US Navy during World War II. His son is actor Michael Douglas. He is ranked 17th in the American Film Institute's list of 100 Years...100 Stars. His most notable films include Ace in the Hole (1951), Lust for Life (1956), and Spartacus (1960). He died on February 5, 2020.
