An English-New Zealand actor, writer and composer, born as Richard Timothy Smith in Cheltenham, England, 1942. He studied at Tauranga Boys' College and learned horsemanship back in England, 1964, a sport that helped him enter the world of cinema as a stuntman in Carry on Cowboy (1965). O'Brien is best known for his roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Shock Treatment (1981) and Dark City (1998).
