American writer, producer, and director, born in San Francisco, California, United States. Her writing works include The Hate U Give (2018), Guinevere (1999), and Under the Tuscan Sun (2003). She died at the age of 58, after a long struggle with cancer, on the evening of Thursday, October 4, 2018, days before the release of the movie, The Hate U Give.
