Straffi began his career as a comic book artist in 1985 when his first story was published in Tilt. In 1989, Straffi was recruited by veteran comic writer Claudio Nizzi (1938) to work on the then-new detective series "Nick Raider" (1988-2005). His first animated feature film based on an original story was the historical comedy Gladiators of Rome (2012). He served as a producer on the TV series Club 57 (2019-2021).
