Biography

An American actress, born on May 17, 1911 in Dublin and studied in a London convent. She was discovered by director Frank Borzage, and made her debut in the cinema in the early thirties. She acted in dozens of films, but she gained wide fame in the role of "Jane", Tarzan's...Read more friend. In 1936, she married director John Farrow, then retired from acting in 1942 to dedicate her time to raising her children. She is the mother of the two actresses Tisha and Mia Farrow, who appeared with her in Woody Allen's 1986 movie Hannah and Her Sisters. Her first appearance in 1932 in the movie Tarzan, the Monkey Man caused a scandal at the time because of her short dress. She returned to the screen for two short periods in the sixties and eighties, where she played secondary roles in a number of films. She died on June 23, 1998 in Los Angeles at the age of 87.
