A Russian playwright and short story writer, born January 29, 1860. He is considered one of the most prominent stars of short-story writing, and one of the most prominent representatives of the realist school of Russian literature in the late nineteenth century. His most famous plays are Uncle Vanya (1897), The Three Sisters (1901), and The Cherry Orchard (1903). He passed away July 15, 1904.
