Sultana Youssef is an Iraqi singer, born in the city of Mosul in 1910. She moved to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and settled in the Haider Khana area. She began singing in 1927, when she first stood on Nozhat El Bdour stage, and then collaborated with many Iraqi poets and...Read more composers, including Abdul Karim El Alaq and Saleh El Kuwaiti. She was famous for her great skill in singing as well as for her bass voice that can perform high notes. In 1941, she returned again to the city of Mosul and continued her musical career from there, especially in theatres. She recorded during that period 14 records. She co-starred in the Egyptian movie The River of Love in 1960. A few months later she retired from art and devoted herself completely to worship. She died in 1995 at the age of 85.
