An American actorn, born on April 5, 1900 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. to the father of a traveling salesperson. He left school and joined the US Navy. In 1935 he signed on with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, after which he became a major star. He was the first star to win Oscars in two consecutive years for his roles in Captains Courageous (1937) and Boys Town (1938). Tracy presented several films that are considered landmarks in the history of cinema, such as The Old Man and the Sea (1958), Inherit the Wind (1960), and Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). He had several romantic relationships, the longest of which was with actress Katharine Hepburn. A few weeks after finishing his movie Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), he suffered from pulmonary congestion and then died of a heart attack on June 10, 1967.
