He is an American producer and director, born in Glendale, California. He is also one of the founders of the film production company Amblin Entertainment and is famous for his collaboration with director Steven Spielberg. His wife is producer Kathleen Kennedy, and he is the son of composer Jack Marshall. He is known for Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Congo (1995), and Signs (2002).
