Joachim Rønning is a Norwegian director, writer, and producer, born on May 30, 1972, in Sandefjord, Norway. He used to spend his free time making short movies with his father using a home video camera. In 1992, he attended Stockholm Film School in Sweden and graduated two years after. Later that year, Rønning served his mandatory time in the military making propaganda films for the Royal Norwegian Army. In 1995, he began directing commercials and music videos with his childhood friend and they ended up working for many international brands such as Airbus, Nintendo, Coca-Cola, GE, and Nokia. Rønning gained popularity after his work on Kon Tiki (2012), Max Manus: Man of War (2008), Bandidas (2006), and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tale (2017).
