An Egyptian playwright, born in Cairo. He obtained a doctorate in English literature from the University of Leeds, England, and served as an advisor to President Anwar Sadat on literature. He wrote several plays, the most famous of which are The Butterfly, Love Game, The Shadow, and Bahia’s Eyes. He died on 22 February 1983.
