A British actress, born in Glasgow, Scotland. She married actor Eric Thompson and had two daughters, actresses Emma Thompson and Sophie Thompson. In 2014, she received the Order of the British Empire for her artistic contributions and charitable services within the United Kingdom. Some of her credits are Much Ado About Nothing (1993) and The Winter Guest (1997).
