An Egyptian poet, born on August 3, 1899, in Sharqia. He is considered a pioneer of the poetic theatrical movement after Ahmed Shawqi. He completed his studies at Victoria College in Alexandria, then the Tawfiqia School in Shubra, and then the Saidia School. He studied law and graduated from the Faculty of Law in Cairo in 1923. He trained as a lawyer for two years, then joined the government and occupied several positions in it. He became an MP in 1929, after which he returned to holding several administrative positions, including the governor of Port Said and the military governor in 1942. He was awarded the State Appreciation Award in Literature in 1965.
