He began his career as a guitarist in New York, accompanying “Sesame Street” band on its tours during his adolescence. He formed the Big Apple...Read more Band in 1972 with bassist Bernard Edwards, which was renamed as Chic in 1977. They released hit singles such as "Everybody Dance", "Good Times" and "Le Freak". They also wrote and produced music for other artists, including "We Are Family" for Sister Sledge and "I'm Coming Out" for Diana Ross. Following Chic's breakup in 1983, Rodgers collaborated with many artists such as David Bowie, INXS, Madonna, and Lady Gaga. Rodgers founded Sumthing Else Music Works record label in 1998, which focused on distributing video game soundtracks. He did the score of films such as Coming to America, Earth Girls Are Easy, and Beverly Hills Cop III.
