An American actor, born in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He was the brother of actress Tamara Shayne. He joined the Moscow Arts Theatre, but World War I intervened to stop his artistic career as he joined the army before returning to continue his career. He is known for The Stranger (1946) and Christmas Eve (1947).
