Neil Burger is an American director. He was born in Connecticut, and graduated from Yale University with a degree in fine arts. He started his career by directing music videos, and a series of promotional spots for what would be the MTV "Books: Feed Your Head" campaign against aliteracy. In 2002, Burger made his feature debut Interview with the Assassin, which earned him a Best Feature award at the Woodstock Film Festival, and three Independent Spirit Awards nominations. In 2006, Burger filmed The Illusionist, which was an adaptation of the Steven Millhauser short story entitled Eisenheim The Illusionist, and featured Edward Norton and Jessica Biel. Two years later, Burger made the comedy road movie The Lucky Ones to moderate success, and followed three years later with the mystery thriller Limitless, which featured Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro, and was a big box office success. In 2014, he made the action sci-fi Divergent, based on the novel of the same name by Veronica Roth.
