A British actor and writer, born on April 2, 1914 in Marylebone, London, England, United Kingdom. In 1958, he won the Academy Award for Best Leading Actor for The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). His works include Kind Hearts and Coronets, The Horse's Mouth, and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
