Katharine Hutton Hepburn was an American actress, born in Hartford, Connecticut on May 12, 1907. She joined Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, where she obtained a BA in History and Philosophy. She practiced theater during her studies at college, and upon her graduation she worked in small roles in Broadway, and from there to the cinema screen. She was nominated for an Oscar 12 times, and won the award four times for her roles in Morning Glory (1933), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (1968) and On Golden Pond (1981).
