Sofia Boutella was born on April 6, 1982, in Bab El Oued, Algeria. She has shown a remarkable willingness to dance since the age of five, which made her take dance classes and continue in the field even after she moved to France with her family at the age of ten. Over time, Boutella added the sportive element to the classical dance which required superior physical skills, and became a hip-hop dancer. She participated in many international dance competitions and was noticed by Jamiroquai, Madonna, Rihanna, and Mariah Carey, who she starred in their music videos.
