An American actress of Peruvian descent, she was born in Lima, Peru, to a musician father. She won a dance competition that was broadcast on national television when she was four years old. Her family subsequently relocated to Venezuela, where she started her performing career in theater. Then she moved to San Francisco, where she joined theater groups. She also appeared in commercials.
