His books were of great diversity and are still read today, and they include Treasure Island (1883), Prince Otto (1885), and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886). In 1889, he made a large-scale tour of the southern seas, settling in Vailima, Samoa, where he died on December 3, 1894.
