He was later sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor, then he was transferred to various prisons, escaping from the last of them in 1941, during World War II, when he disappeared forever. The secret disappearance of Arrabal's father deeply affected him. His notable work includes Long Live Death (1971), I Will Walk Like a Crazy Horse (1973), and Odyssey of the Pacific (1982).
