He is a Canadian writer and producer, born on April 7, 1971, in Deep River, Ontario, Canada. He obtained a degree in film and literature from the University of Toronto. He was included in Us Weekly's list of the "100 Most Creative People in Entertainment." His notable works inlcude  Freddy Got Fingered (2001), Meet the Family (2013-2015), and You Got Trumped: The First 100 Days (2016).
