Essie Davis is an Australian actress, born in Hobart, Australia, in 1970. She studied at Clarence High School and later joined the University of Tasmania. She began her acting career in stage plays before appearing in films. Essie received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her notable works include The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Babadook (2014), Assassin's Creed (2016) and True History of the Kelly Gang (2019).
